Pattamundai College

The department of Odia as major subject was opened in Pattamundai College during the academic year 1980-81 with 16 sanctioned strength. Subsequently, in the academic year 1991-92 it was converted to 32 seats and during academic year 2016-17 it again increased to 40 seats. This department provides specialised teaching in comparative literature, translation studies, odia fiction, essay, poetry, story communicative & creative writing with special emphasis of folk literatures of coastal district. Since its inception, the department has pioneered in providing quality education and has thus abled to produced scholars, intellectuals and educationist. The department is not only imparting up-dated model course curriculum as prescribed by Utkal University in the class room but also make the students learn in the community through the various field visit. The department maintains a positive relationship among the students, teachers and the administration which creates a harmonious and welcoming learning environments for the students. It helps the students to increase their intellectuals accomplishments and learning more effectively.

        There has been a literary society in the college, namely “Odia Sahitya Samaj” which functions under the supervision and guidance of the department to promote Odia language and literature by conducting various literary competition in Odia.

            The department provides modern information and communication technology facilities, services and support to enhance the teaching and learning aims of the college. The department classroom is fitted with an interactive white board, WIFI which are connected to the network. The department utilizes Google, Google Meet, Zoom, E-Mail and Online storage in the delivery of teaching and learning.
