National Cadet Corps (NCC) Units

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) at Pattamundai College consists of two dedicated units, 1(O) BN NCC, Cuttack Unit and 1(O) Girls BN NCC, Bhubaneswar. Both units actively contribute to the physical, mental, and social development of students while fostering values such as discipline, leadership, and service to the nation. The NCC provides cadets with opportunities for personal growth through military training, adventure activities, and community service.

Objective:

The NCC units aim to prepare young boys and girls to become disciplined and responsible citizens, offering them a platform to develop leadership skills and a sense of national unity. Both units participate in a variety of activities designed to promote teamwork, self-discipline, and a spirit of adventure.

Enrollment:

Cuttack Battalion Unit: Enroll strength under this unit is 50(fifty)

  • Cadets undergo various adventure and physical training sessions to enhance their personal growth and discipline.

Bhubaneswar Girls’ Battalion Unit: Enroll strength under this unit is 50(fifty)

  • providing them the same training opportunities as their male counterparts, with a focus on empowering young women to take on leadership roles and become self-reliant.
  • The girls' unit participates actively in drills, camps, and social service activities, ensuring gender equality in all aspects of training.

Key Programs and Training for Both Units:

Military Training:

  • Cadets from both boys' and girls' units are trained in drill, weapon handling, physical fitness, map reading, and fieldcraft.
  • This training enhances their discipline, teamwork, and readiness for military or paramilitary careers.

Adventure Activities:

    • Both units are encouraged to participate in adventure camps and activities such as trekking, cycling, parasailing, and rock climbing. These experiences build confidence, resilience, and teamwork among cadets.

Personality and Leadership Development:

    • Specialized training in leadership and personality development is provided to both boys and girls, helping them take on leadership roles in their academic and professional lives.

Community Service and Social Awareness:

    • Cadets engage in social service activities, including awareness drives on health, environment, and social issues, with both boys' and girls' units contributing equally to local community development projects.

Camps and Competitions:

    • Annual Training Camps (ATC):
      Both boys and girls participate in these camps, where they receive intensive training in military skills, physical fitness, and leadership.

    • National Camps:
      Selected cadets from both units have the opportunity to attend national-level camps such as the Republic Day Camp, Thal Sainik Camp, and National Integration Camp. These camps provide a platform for cadets to interact with students from across the country and represent their state and college.

Certification:

  • Both boys and girls are trained and prepared for the B and C Certificate exams, which are essential qualifications for those aspiring to join the armed forces or seek special job placements in civil services.

Achievements:

  • Cadets from both boys' and girls' units have participated in various state and national-level NCC camps, winning accolades for their performances in drills, shooting, cultural activities, and leadership skills.
  • Many cadets have cleared the B and C Certificate examinations, opening doors for recruitment into the Indian Armed Forces, paramilitary services, and other prestigious positions in government and private sectors.
  • Both units have actively contributed to community service, including organizing blood donation camps, participating in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and assisting in disaster relief programs.
  • One of our NCC cadets represented Pattamundai College at the prestigious Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2023, showcasing exemplary skills and dedication.

Career Opportunities for Both Units:

  • Boys and Girls NCC Cadets are eligible for direct entry into the Indian Armed Forces with vacancies reserved for NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders in various branches such as the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
  • Cadets from both units receive preference in government jobs, paramilitary forces, and corporate sector positions due to the leadership and discipline instilled through NCC training.
  • Special scholarships and concessions are available for cadets pursuing higher education and civil services, further encouraging the development of a strong, service-oriented mindset.

How to Join:

Eligibility:
Students enrolled in Pattamundai College can join the boys' or girls' NCC units based on physical fitness, interest, and commitment to the values of NCC.

Registration Process:
Interested students can apply through the NCC office at the college. Selection is done based on an interview and fitness test.

Future Plans:

  • To expand the intake capacity for both the boys' and girls' units, ensuring wider participation in NCC activities.
  • To organize more national and international-level camps and exchange programs for both units.
  • To increase participation of female cadets in leadership roles and national-level events, further empowering young women through the NCC.
